AfHEA appoints Mr. Matthias Akuliga Aneinini as Director of Operations

Part of AfHEA’s ongoing transition is the recruitment of the Director of Operations which was approved by the Board of Trustees.

Matthias is a Chartered Accountant and a Development practitioner. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration in Finance (MBA-Finance) from Central University - Ghana, a Master of Arts in Development Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Sociology degrees both from the University of Ghana.

He has over 22 years of demonstrable experience in the field of corporate sustainability, change management, budgeting, grants management, resource mobilization, financial management, human resources management, procurement and logistics, corporate governance and audit and assurance.

Most recently, Matthias was the Associate Director of Finance for Family Health International - 360 (FHI 360) where he provided cutting-edge leadership to FHI 360 Ghana Office /USAID’s Communicate for Health Project, FHI 360’s multimillion-dollar Ghana program in coordination with the FHI 360 headquarters in Washington, DC in finance and operations, including general administrative processes, financial management, grants and contracts management, procurement and inventory management and human resource management.

Prior to this, he was the Director of Finance and Operations for JSI Research and Training Inc. responsible for the transparent utilization of financial resources and effective leadership of the Finance and Operations Unit. He provided leadership to the Finance and Operations Team of the Country Office and advised the Chief of Party and the Senior Management Team on the financial health and strategy of the USAID’s Strengthening Partnerships, Results and Innovations in Nutrition Globally (SPRING) Project in Ghana.

Matthias’ other experience includes senior management positions at Water Aid West Africa, CARE International Ghana, World Vision International among others.

“I am very excited to be part of AfHEA’s leadership and I look forward to contributing to driving AfHEA to a new level of operational excellence, efficiency and effectiveness”. Matthias said in his first introductory meeting with his new team.

We are delighted to have Matthias join the executive team. Matthias is a proven executive who has contributed to the progress of various International Non-Governmental Organizations in Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leon and has wide experience working with players in the public and private sectors, civil society and cooperating partners including the EU, USAID, DFID and other international development institutions.

He will be a great asset for AfHEA’s journey towards achieving equitable and efficient health systems and improved health outcomes in Africa.

As the Director of Operations, Mr. Aneinini will have overall responsibility to plan, direct, and oversee AfHEA’s operational policies, rules, initiatives, and goals. He will help the organisation execute long-term and short-term plans and work alongside the Executive Director (ED) to put procedures in place as well as raise and allocate resources to realize AfHEA’s vision and mission.
