Venue
The venue for the conference is Kempinski Hotel-Gold Coast City Accra, in the Heart of Accra, near the Ministries and the National Theatre.

Visa Information
Nationals from the following countries, traveling to Ghana, are Visa-exempt: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritius (60 days), Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Swaziland, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago (60 days), Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
However, citizens of the African Union (except Morocco) member states that are not visa exempt can obtain a 30 days maximum visa for Ghana upon arrival for fee US$150.
Arrival at the Airport
AfHEA conference volunteers at the Airport (who will wear the conference logo T-shirt) will escort the participants to buses (hired by conference organizers) which will take the participants directly to their Hotels. Please note that participants who opt for taxis and other vehicles may be requested to pay for transportation to their Hotels.
Currency and Exchange Rates
Ghana’s Currency is the Ghana Cedi. It can be exchanged with the US Dollar, CFA, French Franc, Swizz Franc, the British Pound, the Japanese Yen, and the Chinese Yuan. Please check on Google to be sure your currency can be exchanged in Ghana. You could exchange your currency in most of the hotels, the Forex Bureaus, and at the Airport.
Registration
Two registration desks (English and French) will be set up at the conference venue but participants are strongly encouraged to first register online before arrival at the conference.
Registration and tag retrieval will start on Sunday, March 10, 2019 with the pre-conference workshops to avoid congestion on the 12th.
All delegates are expected to present a valid ID to retrieve their name tags at the registration desks, which will be located at the Adlon 1-3 Lobby, before the conference begins.
Conference Language
The conference languages will be English and French. Bilingual ushers will be on site throughout the conference to assist participants who may need help in either English or French.
Translation and Interpretation
Language Translation and Interpretation Services (English and French) would be provided throughout the pre-conference workshops and conference on site.
Accommodation
A list of suitable negotiated Hotels is provided on the conference website. Participants are encouraged to choose from the hotel list for easy coordination of transportation and security.
Transportation: Venue – Hotel transfer
Necessary transportation services have been arranged to convey delegates to the venue and hotels during the conference.
Taxi and Uber Services
For internal commuting in and around Accra you can easily take a Taxi Cab by negotiating with the drivers (Note that Taxis in Ghana do not issue receipts. You may have to write a receipt for them to sign for you). Uber also works very well in Accra in major areas that are easily reachable by google maps). Kindly download and install Uber on your phone to request Uber Ride at most locations. They do not also issue receipts.
Communication
There are a number of mobile communication networks in Ghana, including MTN, Airtel-TiGo, and Vodafone. The chips for these phones could easily be purchased on the street and connected with the help of your ID card for use. There are pay as you go call cards to reload your phone.
Internet services are provided in all the hotels listed on the conference websites and many other hotels and guest houses in Accra. Internet service (Wi-Fi) will be provided throughout the conference venue.
Information Help Desk
Help Desk services for basic logistics and queries will be available for the participants on 11-14 March 2019, from 08:00 hours-17:00 hours at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra.
10th Anniversary Gala Dinner
The 10th Anniversary celebration Gala Dinner of the African Health Economics and Policy Association will be held at the beach front of the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra on March 13, 2019. Buses have been arranged to convey delegates from their respective hotels to the Gala Dinner venue.

Meals
Lunch and coffee breaks will be made available in accordance with the program of the conference.
Restaurants in Accra
The Oxford Street (Main Street) in Osu is home to many Continental, Chinese and African Restaurants including Frankies, Papaye, Country Kitchen (Nearby), Noble House etc. Azmera restaurant, located at Roman Ridge area, serves Buffet African Dishes for Lunch and Dinner. Climate and Weather
Ghana is a tropical country. The temperature in Accra ranges between 23 and 33 degrees Celsius. The coastal area of Accra is a mix of warm and breezy temperature. It would be summer throughout in March so please park your clothes appropriately.
Yellow fever Vaccination
Delegates are encouraged to ensure that they carry along their Yellow fever vaccination cards with them to avoid the possibility of being detained at the airport.
Health and Emergency Information
In the event of a medical emergency during the conference, please contact the Information Help Desk who will facilitate transport to nearby health facilities like the Greater Accra Regional( Ridge) Hospital, 37 Military Hospital and the Trust Hospital. Conference delegates from abroad are required to have valid travel insurance as any emergency medical care will have to be paid directly by delegates while in Accra.

Security
Ghana is generally safe and you can walk freely both in the day and night but take precautions and do not stay late at night and do not walk alone at obscure places at night.
