In 2015, His Excellency the President of Ghana established the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Technical Review Committee, chaired by the founding Executive Director of the
African Health Economics and Policy Association (AfHEA) Dr. Chris Atim. The committee was tasked to review the design and operations of the NHIS and come up with findings and
recommendations to improve upon its sustainability, efficiency, equity and accountability as well as user satisfaction and responsiveness. At the end of its review work and deliberations, the committee shared several key findings which are presented in this report.
