membership has grown tremendously

Membership is at the core of the African Health Economics and Policy Association (AfHEA), and is open to all Africans and non Africans (including institutions) working on health and health care issues related to Africa. AfHEA membership has grown tremendously (and continues to grow) since it was officially registered on the 17th of September 2008, with a massive surge in memberships recorded during the second scientific conference which took place in Saly, Senegal in March 2011.

Economists and health care practitioners

Members include health economists and health care practitioners working in Universities or other research institutions, non-governmental organizations, multilateral agencies and in government ministries across Africa as well as policy makers, who share a passion for improving health care delivery through the implementation of best-practice research evidence and advocacy.
 

Global impact

There are also a number of AfHEA members who work as health economists in various capacities in the Diaspora. Benefits of becoming an AfHEA member include: lower registration fees during AfHEA’s biennial conferences compared to non-members; members are given first priority to undertake AfHEA’s competitive projects; members have opportunities to network with other members both in Africa and abroad; and members receive regular notifications on job opportunities as well as opportunities for training and advanced studies through AfHEA’s Google forum.

Membership tiers

Prospective members are required to complete a registration form (online) with payments for respective categories as follows:

  • Full Ordinary and Associate Membership: US$ 20 as one-off registration fee plus annual dues of US$ 80 ( renewable annual dues)
  • Student Membership: US$ 20 as one-off registration fee plus dues of US$ 50 (renewable annual dues).
  • Institutional Membership: US$ 500 as annual dues only, renewable annually.

Fiscal year of AfHEA

Kindly note that AfHEA’s year begins on 1st July of every year and ends on 30th June of the following year.
